Vijayapura, also known as Bijapur, is a city in Deccan Plateau, in India. The school project was started about 30 years ago, aiming to solve the drinking water problem in farmer dominated Villages in Bijapur. Many villages did not have any potable drnking water sources those days, so it was women and children who had to go fetch the water from well wherever water is available. Child labor was the one of the serious problem in village, they had no chance of going to school, and it was common to help their parent’s works. We had to convince the parents to have insight for children’s education. by reducing the time for labor, children could spend more time on their education. Those times they spent fetching the water, was turned to school time. By having a well, villagers became more independent and corporative. We were grate full for the changes done by humble donors and JAFS we could able to make, and continued to make wells for villages in needs. |
